Are we safe now?
I think everyone would agree our government didn't do enough to protect us on 9/11. But keep in mind that we just came through the 90's where our military and intelligence organizations were decimated by budget cuts. The same people who want to cut our intelligence are the ones yelling about them not doing enough. They are also the ones crying about the Patriot Act. Freedom isn't free and it's not cheap either. If we want to be safe we need to give the government the means to do their job and leave the alone and let them do it.
Here is a Fox News story on the subject.

Can Democrats carry the South?
Tennessee just seemed to slip away from Democrats in recent years. However, Harold Ford, Jr., made a very strong showing for the U.S. Senate in 2006 and Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen remains very popular. There’s hope for Tennessee yet.
This is in response to this story.
There is no hope for liberal Democrats in Tennessee. Ford and Bredesen both have moderate views and both have some conservative views.
Texas, which has the second largest number of electoral votes, will be back in the Democratic column some day. The only question is when. Its rapidly growing Hispanic population ultimately will help tip the state. Also, Democrats made gains in state legislative races in 2006 and carried all countywide races in Dallas County, the second most populous county in the state, that year. A similar showing is possible in Harris County (Houston) and Bexar County (San Antonio) in 2008. Republican Gov. Rick Perry remains very unpopular.
Another reason for a mass deportation and stricter border control. I can see massive changes to our way of life in the near future. We are being overtaken with illegal aliens.

Is Russia back?
It's disturbing to me that we can be so complacent about our national security. Did we not learn anything from 9/11? It seems that we would have learned that it is better to be proactive instead of reactive when it comes to our security. This story is proof that we have not learned much from our history. Its' frustrating to see countries that rely on our $$$ to survive, not helping but hurting our security. All of our threats are armed with Soviet technology. I read a story a while back about the first M1 tank that was lost in combat. It was destroyed in the last gulf war by a Soviet made anti-tank weapon that was developed after the first gulf war (after an arms embargo was put in place by the UN). We send aid and import products from China and Russia and there is no doubt that they would destroy us if they could.

Missing Amendment???
I don't remember studying the amendment that provides universal health care. I guess it is near the one that supplies illegal aliens with all the rights and benefits of a U.S. citizen. Health costs are high and I would hate to go without insurance, but based on every other government program, this would be a money pit and a disaster. The best way to get a grip on the spiraling cost of health care is to get the government out of it. This is not Canada(THANK GOD). Government should only provide oversight to keep health providers in check.

Our Southern Border
Don't think we have a problem with our southern border? Check this out. The whole world knows how easy it is to get into the U.S. from Mexico. We need men with guns down there.
***You are right snooper, we do have private citizens trying to stop the flow of illegals coming into our country. Now we need our government to get more motivated. We are under a constant invasion. We need our military on the border.***

Recall on Chinese made toys
Is anyone surprised that Chinese factories have no concern for the safety of American children? They have little or no concern for the human rights of their own citizens. The problem most of us face is finding products that aren't made in China. It seems to be U.S. policy to support countries that are devoted to our destruction. We have the means to support ourselves, and with the added security we would have by not funding terrorist countries we would come out cheaper even with paying the extra wages for American workers. I can't imagine it being too much cheaper to use child labor in China and ship it to the U.S. rather than using quality American labor.
Here is the Fox News story I was reading.

Russia claims North Pole
According to this story, Russia claimed the waters at the North Pole. This just reminds me of all the unclaimed oil within our own borders. We have oil bubbling out of the ground in Florida and just waiting to be taken in Alaska. Yet, our politicians would rather be slaves to countries that use our own money to kill us. We may not have any claim on the North Pole, but anything we can do to reduce our dependence on foreign oil would only make us safer.
Who wants to pay $10 for a gallon on milk?
More and more people are wanting to restrict trucks from using their roads. Like in this article, they believe that trucks pose a risk to other drivers. More times than not, it is not the truck drivers fault but the fault of another motorist not respecting the truck's space. No one wants to be stuck behind a slow truck, but you can't impose on the safe space that is needed to operate a truck. Yes, there are lots of dangerous drivers out there, and some are truck drivers. Truck drivers drive an average of 130,000 miles a year. Compare that to 18,000 for the average driver. The odds of being in an accident are against the truck driver.Remember, if you got it, it came on a truck. Be thankful and show some respect.
What About Vick?
This is response to this MSN article.
Any "normal" person would have taken a plea bargain a long time ago. This is another example of the rich and famous expecting to use their fame to beat the law. There is no doubt that he was involved in the dog fights. In fact, there is a lot of proof that shows he was backing the dog fights personally. He is a thug and needs to be in prison.
